Distributed Engineering Environments
Moderator: Matthias Bauer, Infineon Technologies, Germany
EDA tools are currently evolving from CAD frameworks to integrated network-based environments. This
session addresses novel technologies in tool integration, configuration, and collaborative team
support. The presentations range from XML-based data exchange over Web-based access to tight
network integration. A final presentation introduces adaptability of design languages.

PANEL: Internet-Based Engineering - Reality or Promise?
Moderator: Wolfgang Mueller, Paderborn University, Germany
Panelists: Heinz-Josef Eikerling, Adam Pawlak
Internet and Web are still the most frequently used buzzwords with respect to IT applications. This
panel debates the current status and future evolution of EDA tools. Is collaboration through
Internet sufficiently supported by current CAD environments? Tool vendors, EDA users from major
European-based industries, and experts from University will answer that question.
