  • E-Colleg at the Forum on Design Languages (FDL'01) Conf. in Lyon

    • Tuesday, (4th Sept. ) 12.00-13.00
      Distributed Engineering Environments
Moderator: Matthias Bauer, Infineon Technologies, Germany

EDA tools are currently evolving from CAD frameworks to integrated network-based environments. This session addresses novel technologies in tool integration, configuration, and collaborative team support. The presentations range from XML-based data exchange over Web-based access to tight network integration. A final presentation introduces adaptability of design languages.

    • Tuesday, (4th Sept. ) 14.30-15.30
PANEL: Internet-Based Engineering - Reality or Promise?
Moderator: Wolfgang Mueller, Paderborn University, Germany
      Panelists: Heinz-Josef Eikerling, Adam Pawlak

Internet and Web are still the most frequently used buzzwords with respect to IT applications. This panel debates the current status and future evolution of EDA tools. Is collaboration through Internet sufficiently supported by current CAD environments? Tool vendors, EDA users from major European-based industries, and experts from University will answer that question.

    • Tuesday, (4th Sept. ) 16.15
E-COLLEG Working Session on Internet-Based Tool Integration and XML-based Data Exchange
Moderators: Dennis Soderberg, FTL Systems, UK
Wolfgang Thronicke, Siemens Business Services, Germany

In order to address the needs for distributed design team EDA environments need real support for collaborative engineering. After initial technical presentations on Internet-based tool integration and XML in the context of EDA data exchange, this working session will open a discussion to identify industrial needs and required standards for collaborative EDA tools.
